Evelyn S. Cottrill, 86 of Morgantown passed away Friday March 11, 2011 in Greensboro, NC.Born, August 20, 1924, Evelyn was the daughter of George and Estelle Moore of Barbour County, and the oldest of four daughters. Her husband, Carl E. Cottrill served in the US Army and preceded her in death.A bookkeeper by profession, Evelyn worked many years in various capacities at Friendship Manor retiring as manager. Her life time was devoted to helping her friends and family. Among her many contributions, she encouraged and supported all of her Grandchildren in graduating from West Virginia University.Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her Son, Carl C. Cottrill as well as one sister, Mildred Allen of Philippi. She is survived by: sisters Maxine Kendall of Morgantown and Virginia Stansberry of Akron, Ohio, four grandchildren, Lora Cottrill Prisock and her husband Bill of Greensboro, NC, Laura Cottrill Morgan of Jupiter, FL, Major Gerald Cottrill and wife Reid of Beavercreek, OH and Carl Hayden Cottrill and wife Heather of Philippi, WV, niece Sherry Dorsey and her husband David of Morgantown and 5 great grandchildren.The family wishes to thank the many neighbors, friends and caregivers that worked tirelessly to make her final years comfortable. They also wish to thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for their support during her final days.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown Thursday, March 17, from 11:30am until 1:30 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405, Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 SE Indian St., Stuart, FL 34997 or the Hospice organization of your choice.
