I am so sorry to hear of Jr's passing. He and his family were great friends to my mother and father, Kathleen and Ernest Clarke, and our family over the years. I just got the notice of his death, I am sorry I could not attend the services. God Bless and Keep his family.

There are many things to say about my Pap. He could bring a smile to my face with his beloved "Yello!", when answering the phone, or his famous sneezes (numerous in amount and heard miles away). The most memorable thing about Pap was the love he brought to everyone he touched: family, friends, and my Granny Katherine. Together they provided us grandkids with a colorful childhood full of adventure, laughter, and love. I am thankful to have him as my Pap. I miss and love you! Raaachel

There are so many stories I could tell of my time spent with Pap. I'd have to write a book to even begin compiling them! Pap, I want you to know that I cherish every moment we had together. Those wonderful times are carried within me everywhere I go, and without them I couldn't imagine being the person I am today. Thank you Pap, for being such a huge part in giving your grandson, the little boy next door on the side of the hill, a childhood and memories he wouldn't trade for anyone else's in the world! I love you and will miss you until we're together again. -Matty

Love my Pap! I spent many summers with Grandma and him. He was always into something. He worked hard and was always willing to do for us grandchildren. He was a mountain man for sure. Not sure how many times we almost wrecked because he would be busy looking for deer. Thankful I was able to take my kids to share summers with him. He took them crawfish hunting and fishing. Thinking about his hummingbirds that would come visit his feeders. I cheerish all the times and memories spent with him. Can still hear him singing louder than anyone at church and calling me by pet name!

Uncle JP there are very few of my childhood memories of summer that don't have you as a main character. You never looked at us as little girls, we were your merry men and you were the pied piper. We would follow you anywhere. You never dilly dallied but charged full speed ahead and we were the better for it. My children were blessed to become part of your new group of merry men and they are so thankful for the opportunity to have been blessed with you as we all are. In the end they say you know how well loved and respected a person was by how many peoples lives they touched. I think if we stood shoulder to shoulder we would cover most of WV and beyond. P.S. You and Uncle Gene behave up there.

When I think of my Uncle JP, the first word that comes to mind is adventure. We always had so much fun! Whether camping, going to the beach, New Jersey or West Virginia, Uncle JP could be counted upon to have us trek to new places, do crazy things and play hard. He got Grandma to wear a tshirt and paddle down the river. He took us into the great Outdoors and taught us how to experience life in the woods. He was a tough competitor - I will always remember him partnering in Rook with Dad and bidding high for the widow despite whatever hand he held. He was incredibly bright, he constantly won Scrabble with his placement of 3 letter words. He was interested in history, politics and the world in general. I was so glad we spent time together this Fall and I will really miss him. He helped make my childhood magical. Andrea
