The one thing we remember the most about Rich , was that we could never think of a time when we were around him , that he wasn't smiling. He was a very fine man , and we will miss him.

Rich was not only a kind and loving person, but someone that touched the lives of all those that were fortunate enough to know him. I wish I'd had the opportunity to tell him how much he meant to me growing up, but I believe that he knew. Rich was like a second father to me when Jessica and I were young, embracing my in to the family as one of his own. I will never forget his warm smile, kind words, and cheesy jokes. One of my favorite memories - a story I still tell others - was the time he took Jessica and me to Eat n' Park and told the waitress that we were twins and that it was our birthday so we could each have a cookie Sunday. I loved the man so much, and all of the fun and silly and wonderful things he did. His spirit will live on in all of our hearts. My thoughts and prayers go out to Rich's family during this difficult time. I love you all. Rich, may you be in peace.

Richard's obituary is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful spirit, and can only scratch the surface. He touched so many lives all over the world (every continent!), and I always had a smile on my face after leaving his presence. His humor, intellect and kindness will stick with me, as I'm sure it will for all those he touched. I feel blessed to have met him. Jessi - you, your family and loved ones are in my heart and thoughts.

My thoughts are with Greg Fleisher, my friend and colleague, and with Richard's family during this difficult time. I was fortunate enough to meet Richard on a couple of occasions when he directed poverty simulations here at HCC, and I immediately came to see where Greg acquired his own strong commitment to the pursuit of social justice. I was also fortunate enough to share with Richard his love of baseball. His presence in the lagoon will be sorely missed this year.

To Rich's Family,
Rich was a true friend and mentor to me at WVU. Participating in the programs he developed and organized (Los Escaladores, CHISPA, Multicultural Camps) had a profound impact on my life and I am so grateful for the opportunities he gave me. I had the chance to see him recently and feel so glad that his humor and wit are still fresh in my memories. I will keep him and all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Vicki and all the young'uns
Thinking about what a good man Rich was. He made imporant contributions to West Virginia especially connecting us to the world. His humor kept me going a lot of days--the keister awards were wonderful. And he could always remind me not to take myself too seriously. Such a generous loving man. I know you will all miss him. I send my sympathy and love.

I worked in the 1990s with Rich at WVU Extension. His positive outlook and enjoyment of life was catching and you couldn't help but laugh at his jokes. He is one who really cared. I was always happy whenever we ran into each other years long after our working relationship. We are all lucky for having known him. My condolences to his grieving loved ones.

Deepest sympathy and prayers to the family of Richard Leslie Fleisher both of us came to Know Richard for his work at West Virginia University especially with international students and emphasis on social justice in all of his endeavors. . Recalling his active involvement coordinating many conferences at West Virginia University often held at the Towers residence halls later renamed Evansdale Residential Complex. Also recall his great strength and ability to speak out when aware that a social justice had been compromised. His involvement coordinating host family lodging for many international exchange students enrolled at WVU through the CIP ( Council for International Programs) was a passion and benefitted many first time visitors to the United States. His many years of service at WVU and in the Morgantown community will continue to serve as inspiration and springboard for others to follow his lead. Blessings to his family..

I have worked with Richard Fleisher's son Greg for a number of years and I had the privilege to meet and work with Mr. Fleisher on a couple of occasions on a poverty simulation that he ran at our college. He was energetic and his knowledge on the subject was first rate. The world has lost a scholar. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I am so sorry I was not in Morgantown to be at the service for Rich and share personally with his family my love, admiration and respect for him. Although it's been many years since Rich and I worked together on projects at WVU, I continued to be aware of the kinds of activities that brought him the much deserved Social Justice Award. He was a man of great integrity, humility, and spirit. I will miss him very much -- and do my best in my own work to carry forward the generosity, courage and humanity he brought to every one he met and every thing he did.

This was taken during our 2014 Office Holiday Party. Rich was great and always made me laugh. Never a dull moment when he was around :) Rich will be missed for sure. always a smile. He would visit the 7th floor after retirement. We always looked forward to his ice cream days during the Summer months when we would gather around the table and catch up on things. Always told him no matter where he would be I could always pick his laugh out of a crowd. RIP Rich, fly with the angels. My condolences to the family.
