Obituary of Shirley Ann Snider

Shirley Ann Snider, 81, of Morgantown, was called home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, with her family by her side. Shirley was the daughter of the late Ervin J. Lipscomb Sr. and the late Lula P. Huffman Lipscomb of Masontown, WV. Shirley had been a nanny for James B. and Katherine McCartney before working at the former Coffee Shop in Sabraton. She also worked at Ruby & Ketchy’s restaurant before retiring due to cancer. Her true passion was performing at local country music venues with her late husband Victor. They were members of local bands Cornerstone, the Cheat River Band, and Classic Country. Shirley was inducted into the West Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame at Sagebrush Round-Up in April 2018. Shirley is survived by her children, Vicki Snider, James Snider, Diana Snider, and Jeffrey (Kelly) Snider, all of Morgantown; grandchildren Corinne (Michael) Merrill of Bruceton Mills, Gabrielle Snider of Fairmont, Brady Sterling and his sister Shelby Sterling, both of Morgantown; great granddaughters Isabella Merrill and Addison and Ava Rohrbough; her sisters Phyllis (Dexter) Stewart of Wadestown, Virginia Snyder of Morgantown, and Joretta Stone of Kingwood; brothers Donald (Elaine) Lipscomb of Morgantown, Arthur (Molly) Lipscomb of Kingwood, Carl Lipscomb Sr. of Tunnelton, Jerry (Nancy) Lipscomb of Farmington, Larry (Sally) Lipscomb of Tunnelton and many, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Victor Snider, daughter Donna Snider Vickers, and granddaughter Holly Nicole Hamrick; sisters Arbutus Moran, Violet Lipscomb, Dorothy Williams, and Nancy Hines; brothers Robert Lipscomb, Ervin J. Lipscomb Jr., Billy Lipscomb, Dale Lipscomb, Roy Lipscomb; her longtime companion, Frank Iaquinta, and her beloved dog Arnold. The family would like to give special thanks to Amber, Megan, Lindsey, and Bunny of West Virginia Caring for their hospices services and a special thank you to her caregiver, Virginia Snyder. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Sunday, April 2nd from 2:00-6:00 PM and again on Monday, April 3rd from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Sonny McNear officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Kingwood. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to assist the family at www.givingcompassion.care.
