Obituary of Edward Lee Gilbert

Edward "Ed" Lee Gilbert, 61, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at JW Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Canton, OH, on October 21, 1961, son of the late Bruce Lee Gilbert and Mary Louise (West) Freeland. Ed graduated from Morgantown High School and went into the Army Reserves for six years. He worked for 28 years as a truck driver. Ed was a volunteer fireman for 36+ years for Clinton, Star City, Triune Halleck and Brookhaven Fire Departments. He was also a founding member of the Mon County Hazmat Team. He is survived by his fiance, Patti Deter; his children, Brittany Corbitt and husband, Tim, and Brandi Gilbert; and one grandchild, Kennedy Kirk. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Gilbert; brother, Mitchell Lee Gilbert and sister, Carol Ann King.
