Harold was a great machinist. He made a lot of stuff for the college of WVU and our student projects. Harold was an individual that kept a clean shop and his tools were always kept in great shape. He was always proud of his creations.

I had the privilege of meeting Harold when I first arrived at WVU as a graduate student in 1977, and later when I returned to the faculty in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, where he served as our electrical/mechanical technician. Harold was, without a doubt, the best technician we ever had. Once you gave him a drawing of what needed to be done, he would execute it perfectly and promptly, without fail.
He was not only an exceptional technician but also a friendly and dependable colleague. Harold was always willing to lend a hand, whether for official tasks or personal projects. His insight and suggestions often helped us avoid issues that students and faculty might have overlooked. He had a remarkable ability to improve designs in ways that enhanced both functionality and safety.
As a mentor, Harold taught me invaluable lessons—not just on how to operate machinery properly, but also how to do so safely. He was a true professional and a kind soul, and we will miss him dearly.

Dear Algreta and "all of the family: Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this sad time. It is always difficult to lose a loved one in the Holiday Season. We have many good memories of our relationship with Harold, during the time we lived in Morgantown.
I (Leah) remember him and Del Yoder driving the U-Haul truck to help us move from Indiana to Morgantown, just a few days after Christmas. They did an excellent job of loading the furniture and necessities in short order.
I also remember, perhaps incorrectly, that Harold was the one who called 4 year old Virginia, "Ginny" one Sunday morning. She put her hands on her hips and informed him that her name was Virginia!
While Harold was always a quiet person, he did many kind things for us over the years we lived there. I always respected him and I know he did many things and cared for many folks out of his sense of empathy and humor!
We hope that you will feel God's loving arms around you and all of your family during tomorrow's Service and in the days ahead. Life will be very different without "PAP" -as Chrissy called him. May your time together this weekend bring many comforting memories and stories to mind. Please remember that all the Grandchildren and Great-grandchildren will remember him best by the stories that are told about him in the coming days and years!

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Harold?
A: Harold was an amazing man! We worked together for almost 39 years and I still remember some of the great times we shared. He could build anything if you gave him the specs! I loved when we would have birthday lunches for the staff and he would always make sure my Mom was there. I love you Harold even though I never told you.
